What started as an experimental project in Los Angeles to offer comics more stage time has blossomed into a nationwide phenomenon, and now Tucson is on the map.
Founder and CEO Kyle Kazanjian-Amory, himself a former L.A. comic, wanted to reimagine the traditional comedy experience by using unconventional spaces like backyards, living rooms, and other secret locations. He saw an opportunity to cater to both comedians and audiences in a way that traditional comedy clubs couldn’t. Comedy clubs often have high drink minimums and pricey tickets, making a night out costly for many. Don’t Tell Comedy turned this on its head by offering a more relaxed, BYOB atmosphere, drawing inspiration from Sofar Sounds’ successful pop-up concert model.
In this format, audience members buy tickets without knowing who will be performing or where the show will take place until the day of the event.
